Couch surfer - Nokia N800 or iPhone as a wireless keyboard for your Windows, Linux or Mac OS X
Note: There was some confussion about this program. The program runs on your PC. From the phones point of view it a web page and should work on any phone with a decent browser. You don't have to install anything on your phone/internet tablet.
Couch surfer is an web application that enables you to use your Nokia N800 or iPhone as a wireless keyboard for your computer. Great for surfing on your 42" plasma from your couch.
Preview version without official iPhone support is available free for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
Couch Surfer runs in background on your PC or Mac. It runs a small web server that enables your Nokia N800 or iPhone to control you keyboard and mouse from a web browser.
Note for running on Nokia N800. You must use it in fullscreen with disabled toolbar ( View->Show toolbar->Fullscreen(uncheck) ).
Windows
Download installer and run. Default installation is just what you need.
After installing enter the provided URL (see settings screen) into your mobile device.
Linux
Download tar.gz. extract to your favorite folder and run: /installLinux.sh
tar -xzf CouchSurferLinux.tar.gz
cd couchsurfer
./installLinux.sh
It will install Couch Surfer - Web keyboard and make it run at startup.
After installing run /usr/bin/couchsurfer and enter the provided URL (see settings screen) into your mobile device.
Mac OS X
Download .dmg/.zip and run CouchSurfer.jar
After runing it enter the provided URL (see settings screen) into your mobile device.
There is currently no "run at startup option" but we are working on installer for that. In the meantime, run it by hand.
